Legislative Efforts

Spring 2011:

CCA MD supported DNR and the citizens of Maryland on key natural resources bills.  Most recently we helped affect change on the federal level for menhaden and striped bass.  Locally, CCA MD joined forces with NRP and the Baltimore Sun to break the illegal gill net story.  We have forged a fantastic relationship with NRP throughout the process.   We’ve provided testimony on 19 different bills this year and privately lobbied Senators and Delegates on 12 of them.  On those 19 bills we presented oral testimony on 18 of them before the Senate’s Education, Health and Environment Committee and the House’s Environmental Matters Committee.  We submitted written testimony 26 separate times on those 19 bills (some bills have been heard in both the Senate’s Education, Health and Environment Committee and the House’s Environmental Matters Committee).
We’ve issued two ‘Action Alerts’ on legislation pending before the General Assembly this session, resulting in more than 2200 emails being sent to 130 different elected officials.
