Divisions and Calcuttas
Divisions:
The Power Boat division is included in the general entry cost and is judged by the team. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes. The winners are decided by the longest 3 fish stringers. The final stringer length will be the total combined length of the 3 biggest eligible species caught over the two days of fishing. The stringer can be made up completely of any eligible species (Striped Bass, Red fish, Speckled Trout, Bluefish, and Flounder), or any combination of the three.
*Participants in the Powerboat division may fish anywhere in the Md/Va tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay, but must launch from the Crisfield area. These ramps include: Somers cove, Jenkins creek, Janes Island state park, or the Small boat harbor.
*This division is judged by the team.
The kayak division is included in the general entry cost and is judged on an individual basis. There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes. The winners are decided by the longest 3 fish stringers. This will be judged as its own division completely separate from the powerboat division. Kayak anglers will only compete against other kayak anglers (with the exception of the Calcutta’s). The final stringer length will be the total combined length of the 3 biggest eligible species caught over the two days of fishing. The stringer can be made up completely of any eligible species (Striped Bass, Red fish, Speckled Trout, Bluefish, and Flounder), or any mixture of the three.
*Participants in the kayak division may also fish anywhere in the Md/Va tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay. They are however able to travel and launch from anywhere within Md/Va.
*This division is judged completely on an individual basis.
The kids division is included in the general entry cost and is judged on an individual basis. To enter the division, children must be 12 or under and accompanied by a participating adult. Each paying adult may enter one (1) child under their entry cost. This division is judged by weight, the heaviest overall fish wins the division. Eligible species: Any legal species based on Maryland fishing rules and regulations.
*This division is judged completely on an individual basis.
The winner will be based on the longest Red Fish overall. There will be a winner for both the power boat and kayak division.
*With the exception of kayak anglers, this division is judged by the team.
The winner will be based on the longest Speckled Trout overall. There will be a winner for both the power boat and kayak division.
*With the exception of kayak anglers, this division is judged by the team.
The winner will be based on the longest Striped Bass overall. There will be a winner for both the power boat and kayak division.
*With the exception of kayak anglers, this division is judged by the team.
Calcuttas:
This Calcutta is judged by the team. The award will be presented to the team who completes the slam. Required Species: Red Fish, Speckled Trout, Striped bass, Flounder, Bluefish. Kayak anglers may enter this Calcutta as an individual.
*Judging is based on the longest 5 fish stringer. If no one catches all 5 species, whatever team/individual(kayak) caught the most eligible species wins. If more than one team/individual(kayak) has the same number of eligible species, the one with the longest stringer wins.
This Calcutta is judged on an individual basis. The winner will be based on the longest 3 fish stringer. The eligible species are: Red Fish, Speckled Trout, Striped Bass, Bluefish, and Flounder. All 3 fish must be caught on a fly rod and by the same angler to count towards the Fly Fishing Calcutta.
*One award will be presented to the winning angler.
This Calcutta is judged on an individual basis. One award will be presented to the individual angler who caught the winning fish. The winner will be based on the longest overall fish in the tournament. Eligible species include Red Fish, Speckled Trout, Striped Bass, Blue Fish, and Flounder.
