SUMMARY:Weigh in on Menhaden Management Through 10/9
DESCRIPTION:  \n🐟 Speak Up for Menhaden and the Chesapeake Bay! 🌊 \nASMFC is accepting public comments on Draft Addendum II\, which could change the amount and timing of industrial menhaden harvest in the Chesapeake Bay. \nCCA supports a precautionary approach that leaves more menhaden in the Bay when striped bass\, osprey\, cobia\, red drum\, bluefish\, and other predators need them most. \n✅ CCA’s Recommended Survey Responses \n• Question 5 — Option C\n• Question 6 — Option C1E\n• Question 7 — Option C2A\n• Question 8 — Option B2\n• Question 9 — Option B\n• Question 10 — No change\n• Question 11 — Option B\n• Question 12 — Tell ASMFC why abundant menhaden\, healthy fisheries\, and a productive Chesapeake Bay matter to you. \nThese recommendations support: \n🔹 A 50% initial reduction in the Chesapeake Bay Cap\n🔹 A Bay Cap linked to the coastwide quota\n🔹 Less concentrated harvest during critical spring and summer periods\n🔹 Accountability for seasonal quota overages\n🔹 A required review of the Bay Cap every three years \n📅 Public comments are due by 11:59 p.m. on October 9\, 2026. \n📝 Complete the public comment survey:\nhttps://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6M9XTRT \n🔗 Find the full Draft Addendum\, hearing schedule\, and additional ways to comment:\nhttps://asmfc.org/actions/atlantic-menhaden-draft-addendum-ii/ \n#Menhaden #ChesapeakeBay #ForageFish #StripedBass #CCA #CCAMaryland #CCAVirginia #Conservation

SUMMARY:Building Habitat with St. James Academy (private)
DESCRIPTION:CCA Maryland has partnered with St. James Academy to host a private\, hands-on reef ball building event\, allowing participants to directly contribute to restoring critical marine habitat in the Chesapeake Bay. \nIf your company\, school\, or organization would like to schedule a private two-day reef ball-building experience like the one featured in this video\, please contact information@ccamd.org. \nDay 1 – Build DayParticipants work in teams of 3–4 to assemble oyster reef ball molds\, inflate internal buoys\, and mix and pour concrete to form the reef ball structure. This collaborative process combines teamwork\, education\, and conservation action. \nDay 2 – Hatch DayTeams return to remove the molds\, revealing the finished reef ball they helped create. These reef balls will ultimately be deployed in the Chesapeake Bay\, where they provide essential habitat for oysters\, fish\, and other marine life. \nThis unique experience offers organizations a meaningful way to engage employees or members in hands-on conservation while leaving a lasting impact on the health of our waterways.
