Campaign Sponsors Lead the Way Through Fall Banquet Season

In the Fall banquet season, two key Campaign sponsors lead the way as CCA Maryland continues to focus on growing the Living Reef Action Campaign(LRAC), and efforts to clean up trash in their local communities.  Campaign sponsorships are a title sponsorship for a banquet, and include an opportunity for the sponsor to participate in a reef ball build or shoreline trash clean-up.

Dominion Energy stepped up to support the first banquet of the fall at the Patuxent River Chapter, and is working with chapter and state leaders to greatly assist in the growth of reef ball building in local schools.  In 2020 and 2021, CCA Maryland and it’s partners will work with all 1100 5th graders in Calvert County to learn about oysters, mix concrete, and build reef balls that will then be deployed in nearby reefs.  Southern Maryland reef ball building efforts will also include builds with multiple schools in St. Mary’s County and with other partners in the region.

“We look forward to working with Dominion Energy and our numerous partners in the region to expand the awareness of why healthy habitats are so important to the local ecosystems, and hopefully pique their interests in becoming future anglers” said Don McDougall, a long time Patuxent River Chapter Leader.  “We know our community cares deeply about our river, and it’s great to know we have the support of companies like Dominion Energy to ensure our efforts are truly making a difference for all who rely on, or value our local resources.”

The Baltimore Chapter saw a return of last year’s Campaign Sponsor, Bel Air Subaru.  Last year, employees and staff built reef balls on a rainy Sunday in Sept. and this year, the dealership team joined other CCA Volunteers to make a difference in a local waterway.  In the spring, the team at Jones Subaru and CCA Maryland volunteers will be teaming up to clean up trash in Harford County, and work to Kick Plastic!
