CCA Maryland is a proud partner of Calvert County Public Schools to support reef ball building with each 5th grade class in the county through their CHESPAX program.
Volunteers are welcome at each reef ball build, but must complete the volunteer link below before supporting the event.
Additional volunteers are requested to support the towing of trailers to and from schools. Interested parties should have a 1/2 ton or greater vehicle and will be offered reimbursement for the mileage driven in support of the program. Calvert County Volunteer Policy.
In order to volunteer with students enrolled in Calvert County Public Schools, you must first register with the school system as a volunteer. Once approved, visit the elementary school where you plan to volunteer to have your ID scanned. **If you have been through this process already during the 2021-2022 school year, you do not need to register again until the 2022-2023 school year begins.

Follow the Online Volunteer Application Process. **Be sure to choose ‘CHESPAX’ as well as the school(s) where you will be going to volunteer, especially if you plan to go to more than one school.
You will receive an email notification when you are approved. This could take up to 2-3 days.
- Once you receive the email notification that you have been approved, you are good to go to the school on the date you have signed up to volunteer. Be sure to bring your driver’s license or state issued photo ID!
- When you arrive at the school, you must go to the main office to sign in as a volunteer and have your ID scanned. The secretaries there can assist with this step. You will then obtain a name badge which must be worn and visible at all times.
- At the end of you volunteer shift, you must return to the main office to sign out.
- On the return day, you must sign in as a volunteer, but you will not need to scan your ID again.
**Masking is now optional while on CCPS property and inside all CCPS buildings.
