The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission Striped Bass Board is seeking your input on a draft proposal that may enact changes in recreational and commercial fisheries in 2024. This is an interim action that may only impact the 2024 season, as a new stock assessment update of the striped bass population is schedueld for late 2024, and likely to effect management in subsequent years.

The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission is seeking input on a plan to allow the transfer of uncaught commercial quota amongst states which have an Atlantic Ocean striped bass commercial fishery.

Maryland’s Department of the Environment (MDE) is considering allowing a foreign-owned company to build a 25-acre industrial salmon operation along the Marshyhope Creek, an ecologically important tributary to the Nanticoke River and Chesapeake Bay. CCA Maryland – along with numerous conservation groups – strongly opposes this proposed permit because such a facility would likely have many negative impacts to the area’s already fragile habitats and native fish populations, including the endangered Atlantic sturgeon.

The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission is seeking input on Draft Amendment 7 to the fishery management plan for Atlantic striped bass. This update to the plan has multiple options under consideration which will guide striped bass management through future actions. The public comment period on this action is open through April 15th, 2022.

House Bill 601 / Senate Bill 455 creates a task force of recreational anglers, DNR staff and academic partners to address recreational fishing data collection. It also includes the creation of a pilot program by DNR to improve an understanding of who fishes under a consolidated boat license, the $50 "Boat sticker"
