The following copy is from a Maryland DNR via email providing details on a public scoping period for various fisheries regulations.
Public comment may be provided to DNR before February 6th as described in each issue.
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is scoping possible regulatory changes on the following topics:
- BLUEFIN TUNA, BILLFISH, SWORDFISH, AND SHARK – Recreational Reporting
- BLUEFISH – Recreational Rules
- OYSTERS – Amendment 1 to the 2019 Maryland Chesapeake Bay Oyster Management Plan
- OYSTERS – Container Rules
- SNAPPER GROUPER COMPLEX — Sheepshead Size Limit and Combined Catch Limit
- STRIPED BASS — Changes to Seasons
- YELLOW PERCH — Commercial Season
During the scoping process, the department gathers suggestions and ideas from stakeholders and others about how to solve a fishery problem or address a need.
The goal of scoping is to identify issues, potential impacts, and reasonable alternatives associated with the issues so that management actions can be developed.
