Annapolis, MD – On June 23 and 24, 2023, a great showing of volunteers joined together to build reef balls at the Michael E. Busch Annapolis Library.   The reefs from this project are destined for the Magothy River at Noah’s Reef, a reef site managed by the Magothy River Association.  Noah’s reef is located just South of the Western edge of Dobbins Island, and marked by a red buoy.  These reef balls will be deployed at the reef in 2024.

“It isn’t every day that area youth are offered hands-on experience to build habitat via artificial reef, but thanks to CCA’s partnerships with local school districts and libraries, those opportunities are becoming more frequent and commonplace.” said Jesse Howe, CCA’s Habitat and Education Specialist, who lead this reef build.  “We all have a common interest to make investments in the health of our local waterways, therefore educating the youngest of our stakeholders is paramount to future success.”
