Sustainable Oyster Population and Fishery Act of 2016 SB 937/HB 1603

Last night, in the waning hours of the legislative session, the now named Sustainable Oyster Population and Fishery Act of 2016(HB 1603/SB937) received strong bipartisan support and passed the General assembly. CCA MD’s Government Relations Committee(GRC) is very proud of this accomplishment
A number of legislators and their staff should be commended on their efforts to find a pragmatic solution to what was a rather controversial issue.
We’d like to thank you, our members as well. Your emails and phone calls were heard. We thank you for taking the time to let your elected officials know you care. Most importantly, we must all work together in the coming years to make sure the future of oysters in the bay has room for everyone. We look forward to working towards a bright future for the oyster resource.
